​Hay Fever

Hay fever affects 10% to 20% of the U.S. population and is the most common allergy in the country.

What is hay fever?
Hay fever is an allergic response to pollen or other microscopic substances that are only present at certain times of the year.

Causes
The body releases histamine in response to the allergen. Histamines cause sinuses to swell.

Symptoms
Congestion, sneezing, itchy eyes, fatigue, and runny nose.

Treatments
A doctor may perform a skin test to discover the source of the allergen. Avoide the allegen whenever possible. There are also many drugs available however a doctor should be consulted before use. If the hay fever is sever a face mask may need to be worn, and the use of an air conditioner filter may be recommended.
