Over 20 million Americans – one in five neighbors in our community – suffer from obstructive sleep apnea. Roughly 90% of them are not diagnosed and effectively treated because they are unaware of how dangerous the symptoms are. Of those who are diagnosed, many simply cannot afford the equipment to sleep safer. The total price of a machine and supplies can exceed $2,000, which insurance often does not cover. Breathe California of the Bay Area bridges this gap in coverage. We are the only local non-profit that helps sleep apnea patients with low-cost equipment. If you have an unused CPAP machine or other respiratory equipment, please consider donating it. Your gift could help save a life.
For people who suffer from sleep apnea, a common treatment for doctors to prescribe is a CPAP or BiPAP machine. These machines are worn with a mask while sleeping, and create a positive airflow to keep the airway open. CPAP and BiPAP machines and supplies are expensive, and the medical equipment prescribed to treat sleep apnea is frequently not covered by insurance.
If you need a machine and can’t afford it, Breathe California of the Bay Area is able to help. Click here to learn more.
If you have a gently used auto CPAP machine or other respiratory equipment that comes from a pet-free, smoke-free household, please consider donating it. We also accept supply donations as long as the supplies are new in their original, unopened packaging. We will provide you with a charitable donation letter. You can help others to breathe and sleep easier! Support the Sleep Safe CPAP Program with the donation of a machine today.
