“I really liked camp because it taught me a lot about my asthma. At the camp I learned how to breathe better when I run. Now I can run farther without getting tired. Before the camp I would wheeze at night and it was hard to sleep. Now I sleep better.”

Breathe California Welcomes New Board Members!

On January 14th, Breathe California was thrilled to elect two new members to their Board of Directors, Mary Fischer and Minh Duong.

With a strong financial background, Mary was elected to serve as the Board Treasurer, succeeding Dave Delaney who recently moved to Hawaii. Mary is a Certified Public Accountant who spent 25 years serving as a Finance Director for Hewlett-Packard. During her time with HP, she instituted business basics, measurement and accountability, led enterprise-wide financial planning and analysis, and oversaw site consolidation of a newly created shared services center. Prior to her tenure at HP, she worked for 4 years with Arthur Anderson & Co. in San Francisco. Mary is an alumnus of the University of California at Berkeley, where she graduated with honors with a B.S. in Business Administration. She is currently retired, lives in Los Altos and coaches volleyball and basketball for a local middle school.

Minh Duong was born in South Vietnam and immigrated to the United States at a very young age. His family settled in San Jose where Minh attended Overfelt High School before attending the University of California at Berkeley. During his collegiate career, he became very active in campus politics, founding a number of student political groups and becoming the university’s first Vietnamese Student Senator. Minh would later start a dot com business with 23 other students, become active in real estate investment and establish a successful furniture retail business - MHD Home Furniture – which he continues to own and operate today. Minh currently lives in San Jose and enjoys volunteering his time for a number of San Jose City Commissions, the Vietnamese American Committee Action Team, the San Jose Rotary Club and Evergreen Parent Task Force.

Together, our newest board members bring a wealth of experience that will better help us serve our local communities. Please join us in welcoming Mary and Minh to the Breathe California family! Click here for a complete list of Breathe California’s Board of Directors.
