Breathe California Visits Capitol Hill during
"United For Lung Health" Advocacy
Day
 On May 13th & 14th, a
half-dozen Breathe
California staff and volunteers (pictured here with
Senator Dianne Feinstein) joined representatives from 20 other
health organizations on Capitol Hill for the 2nd annual
United for Lung Health Advocacy Day. There, they pressed
Congress on key lung health legislation, including bills to: give
the FDA authority to regulate tobacco products, establish a
cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions, and
provide increased funding for COPD/lung cancer research and
tuberculosis control efforts.

White House Proposes Plan to Reduce Vehicle
Emissions
President Barack Obama has proposed a plan
that would require the automobile industry to build vehicles that
would emit 1/3 less carbon dioxide and average 35.5 miles per
gallon (mpg) - marking the first time that the government has
linked together fuel standards with reductions in emissions.
