Thanks for Supporting the Breath of Life Walk!

Asthma Campers

On October 6th, people from across the Bay Area gave up their usual Saturday morning activities as they converged on West Valley College for the Breath of Life Walk. The event was a strong success, with approximately 300 local residents in attendance and more than $50,000 raised (to-date). Yet, the real drive behind the event came from the many walkers who have had to battle lung disease themselves. Read more about this year’s walk and those who came out in support of the event. You can also still show your support by donating to the walk

Help Bring Smoke-Free Parks to San Jose!

On October 23rd, the San Jose City Council will be considering the agency’s proposal to make all city parks smoke-free. First proposed by Breathe California and the San Jose Tobacco Free Collaborative more than two years ago, the ordinance seeks to foster safe and healthy park environments by protecting park-goers from the dangers of secondhand smoke. The policy has earned the endorsement of the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission and is being carried by Vice-Mayor Dave Cortese and Councilmember Madison Nguyen. Let the city council know that you support smoke-free parks for San Jose by writing your councilmember or joining us at the October 23rd meeting. Click here to find your city councilmember or contact Hewitt Joyner (408-998-5865 or hewitt@lungsrus.org) for more details on the upcoming meeting. Now is the time to help protect the health of children, seniors and all others who enjoy our city parks!
