Secondhand Smoke Helpline
(408) 999-0500
Secondhand Smoke Helpline provides:
free consultation, informational flyers and
no smoking signs.
The Secondhand Smoke Helpline is a free service available to Santa Clara County residents concerned about secondhand cigarette smoke. Santa Clara County Tobacco Prevention Education Program funds the program. The Helpline is staffed on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. At other times, the answering machine takes messages, or when there isn't anyone available to answer calls. All calls remain confidential.
The Helpline educates the caller on what his or her rights are in a particular situation and how to protect them from exposure to secondhand smoke. In other situations the caller may want us to intervene on their behalf, particularly in a situation where their job or home may be in jeopardy if their identity is revealed.
The Helpline offers free services to companies that want to set policies
more stringent than current laws. Through the Helpline, companies receive
consultations to help decide what is needed and how to proceed.
Smoke-Free Bar Complaints
The secondhand smoke helpline is also used in Santa Clara County to lodge complaints on non-compliant bars. All non-compliant bars are referred to the Santa Clara County Tobacco Prevention and Education Program.
