Transportation Projects
Around the world, transportation is the leading cause of air pollution. Breathe California works on a number of fronts to reduce pollution emitting from vehicles.
Alternatively Fueled Vehicles
As the technology has improved, alternatively fueleve vehicles (such as hybrids, nautral gas vehicles, hydorgen fuel cells) not only emit fewer air pollutatns, they are becoming efficient and practical for every day use. Breathe California works to:
- Increase public awareness about the many benefits offered by such vehicles.
- Advocate cities, businesses and transportation agencies to utilize clean vehicles in their fleets.
- Supports the development of new and higher performing alternative fuel technologies.
Alternative Forms of Transportation
Breathe California also actively promotes alternative forms of transportation and encourages local residents to leave their cars at home whenever possible. The agency:
- Works to increase public awareness about the benefits of using alternative forms of transportation.
- Advocates for the expansion of public transit services that encourages increased local ridership.
- Promotes the use of public transit, carpooling, walking and biking.
