Tools For Schools
Indoor air quality plays a significant role in our daily lives. As children, spend a good portion of their day in school, it is important that we fight poor indoor air quality in the classrooom. Breathe California offers a program, Tools for Schools, to help assess indoor air quality on local campuses. Our professional assessments will help schools detect poor air quality and help find ways to eliminate the problem.
Breathe
California has partnered with more than 50 schools across Santa Clara-San
Benito Counties to conduct Tools for Schools assessments. This free service
helps schools find preventative actions to minimize the effects of poor
indoor air quality.
How Tools for Schools Works
The Tools for Schools program is designed to encourage individuals who are actively involved and familiar with the school as part of an Indoor Air Quality team. Our staff takes an active role in training teams on how to create and maintain a healthier learning environment.
As part of its service, the agency:
- Provides staff training to help identify air quality problems
- Completes school-site walkthrough to find solutions
- Creates an overall school-site analysis report
- Helps formulate an action plan for the school

Improved air quality will benefit teachers, students, faculty and the school as a whole: Participating schools:
- Will save money by reducing future renovation and maintenance costs.
- Can maintain a positive reputation with parents, the community and other schools.
- Avoid health problems such as allergies and asthma, which will be minimized with better air quality.
