“I really liked camp because it taught me a lot about my asthma. At the camp I learned how to breathe better when I run. Now I can run farther without getting tired. Before the camp I would wheeze at night and it was hard to sleep. Now I sleep better.”

Asthma Screenings

Breathe California promotes lung awareness by offering asthma screenings for adults and children. If diagnosed early on, asthma can be managed and often times be treated effectively.

The agency condcuts screenings at schools, businesses and other community locations throughout the region. The two-part process consists of:

  1. A General Health Questionnaire
  2. A Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) - A PFT is a procedure that measures the volume and flow characteristics of air exhaled from your lungs.

Our trained staff will assist individuals throughout the process and make recommendations based on the results of the test. The PFT may also help determine other lung-related conditions such as: bronchitis, emphysema, and/or the causes of shortness of breath.
