Sesame Street A is for Asthma
The Sesame Street A is for Asthma project is an educational effort aimed at building public awareness of childhood asthma and providing support to families and child health care providers assisting young asthmatic children.
The stated educational goals of the project are:
-
1. To increase awareness of asthma as a chronic illness, its symptoms, and
the environmental factors (outdoor and indoor) that affect it.
-
2. To introduce behaviors that help children participate in their own asthma
care.
-
3. To inform parents and adult caregivers with and without asthma of simple
steps they can take to help preschoolers with asthma.
The Sesame Street A is for Asthma project and all related asthma information is packaged in a kit that includes a Sesame Street video, a Sesame Street poster, and an asthma awareness guide for childcare providers.
This kit is available free of charge in English and Spanish versions to childcare programs, local childcare resource agencies, public health and community-based organizations, health care providers and at regional professional conferences.
