Smoke-Free Colleges

In Santa Clara County, and across the country, smoking rates remain the highest among young adults. As this demographic make up a large proportion of college students, smoking and secondhand smoke issues are becoming a hot topic at local campuses. Breathe California actively advocates and works with local colleges to adopt smoking policies which will protect their student body and promote a healthier learning environment. These activities include:

Assessing student attitudes on smoking and campus smoking policies
Providing assistance to student groups to craft, implement and publicize new policies
Leading anti-tobacco awareness actives on campus and provide educational resources pertaining to smoking among young adults
